Free Photo Exhibit Opens at Municipal Center

Members of the Flagpole Photographers' Camera Club show off their pieces at the Municipal Center through Oct. 27.

Nearly 200 photographs will adorn the walls of the Municipal Center for the next three weeks as part of the second annual Newtown and Beyond photo exhibit.

Showcasing the best work of the Flagpole Photographers' 26 members, the free exhibit is open to the public through Oct. 27. The group and town hosted a reception on Sunday to open the show, which features a diverse selection of photos from familiar landscapes around Newtown to more exotic locales as well as portraits, nature and still life photography.

The photographers range in age, with the youngest being Jordan Utter, a high school student.

While some photos may be reminiscent of last year's exhibit, many are new and different, according to Rhonda Cullens, who organized the event along with Win Brickmeier.

The photos of recognizable Newtown landmarks are situated near the two entrances of the Municipal Center while inside, toward the center is a section for portraits and still another of birds and nature life. Most photos are color though several are black and white and still others have a filter that is applied.
