Stray Kats Theatre Company announces Season Tickets for its 3rd season in residence at Newtown’s Edmond Town Hall.

Newtown’s only professional theatre company will open with “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry. Five actors recreate the entire cast of the classic Frank Capra film based on Philip Van Doren Stern’s 1939 short story, “The Greatest Gift”. One night only: Saturday, November 3rd!

The season continues in January with SKTC’s first full production: the World Premiere of Fred Stroppel’s  “Small World”, an hilarious imagining of meetings between two giants of the entertainment world, Walt Disney and Igor Stravinsky, centered on the creation of “Fantasia”, the groundbreaking animated film that combined the Disney genius with classical music.  Friday and Saturday evenings; Sunday afternoons, January 11 through January 27th.

February 2nd and 3rd brings the Pulitzer Prize winning “A Delicate Balance” by Edward Albee in which the uneasy existence of upper-middle-class suburbanites is disrupted by the sudden appearance of lifelong family friends and a daughter who can’t seem to stay married. This staged reading continues the SKTC tradition of presenting contemporary classics of the American stage.

Calling everyone who has ever been involved with Little League! March brings the tumultuous journey of two Little League coaches through an entire season, from their first tentative meeting to the climactic championship game in Richard Dresser’s “Rounding Third”. “This play reflects the passions, the joy and the pain that fills the heart of any person who has ever loved a child who was competing for anything, from sports to spelling bees to talent shows."  Friday and Saturday evenings;  Sunday afternoons, March 1 through March 17.

April 28th: “Seven”, written by SEVEN award-winning playwrights (Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kriegel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Margraff, Anna Deavere Smith and Susan Yankowitz) based on interviews with SEVEN heroic women. Triumphant against physical and mental abuse, oppression, adversity, and threats to their lives, these seven women's stories will move your soul and give you a glimpse into the courage and sacrifice women leaders have made to improve the lives of others across the globe. Join us for this very special event in honor of Women’s History Month. In association with the Vital Voices Network.

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
