THE
GARDEN CLUB OF NEWTOWN FLOWER SHOW

The Garden Club of Newtown will present a Small
Standard Flower Show with the theme South Pacific at the Cyrenius H.
Booth Library.  The show will be free and
open to the public from Friday May 18th to Monday May 21st during normal library hours.

The Bali Hai design section will include three classes,
Some Enchanted Evening, Younger Than
Springtime
and Wonderful Guy.  The Bloody Mary design section classes are There Is Nothing Like a Dame and Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair. Each
of these classes has requirements for a specific design, as planned by the
Flower Show Committee, and there will be 4 arrangements in each class.  Each club member designer will create her own
original fresh flower arrangement within the design division rules, for
instance, Some Enchanted Evening will
be a romantic table setting for two, and Wash
That Man Right Out Of My Hair
will be a creative design incorporating a
towel.

There is also a Horticulture Division that
encompasses container grown plants as well as stems from blooming perennials
and bulbs and tree and shrub branches. The sections in the Horticulture
Division will also continue the South Pacific theme, with sections
titled Softer Than Starlight Are You, She’s
a Cookie Who Can Cook You ‘til You’re Done, I’m As Normal As Blueberry Pie, I’m
As Trite And As Gay As a Daisy,
and One
Hundred and One Pounds of Fun, That’s My Little Honey Bun
.

The Flower Show Committee is chaired by Deborah
Osborne, and copies of the schedule will be available for the public to see the
details of the rules and requirements as well as the ribbon winners and award
decisions made by nine judges from Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut.  South Pacific will be staged in the
circulation desk area of the library and The Garden Club of Newtown would like
to encourage everyone with an interest in flower arrangement and horticulture
to stop by and see the show.

I remember years ago that not all of the information about the Kennedy death and assassination wouldRead More not be unsealed until 2017, so why not be able to seal the records of these deaths for the same amount of time?

To further support my support of Aurelia, the letter above states it was the New York Post thatRead More wanted the details. Good for you town clerk! I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. What clowns.- http://ctcouncilfoi.org/

Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires. This is much ado about nothing. http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Newtown-officials-withhold-death-certificates-4526713.php
