Tanglewood Broadcasts

The Boston Symphony Orchestra sounds wonderful in its winter home in Boston but for some reason its performances are even richer at Tanglewood, its summer home set among the trees in Lennox, Massachusetts.  This summer there are many great concerts including an all-Mozart bill, two all-Beethoven performances, two dedicated to Brahms, one featuring Ravel and an all-Gershwin concert.

As always, it will be a star-studded summer at Tanglewood, as scheduled soloists include Yo-Yo Ma, cellist Joshua Bell, violinist and pianists Leon Fleisher, Peter Serkin, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Emanuel Ax.  This season Itzhak Perlman will be heard as both conductor and violin soloist. Other conductors will include Charles Dutoit, Kurt Masur, Christoph von Dohnányi, and Lorin Maazel.   The Boston Pops Orchestra makes two appearances this year. One will be under the baton of Keith Lockhart and one with John Williams.  Visit wmnr.org for full details and tune in starting July 8th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30pm and Sundays at 2:30pm.
