Stray Kats opens registration for Stray Kittens Summer program

NEWTOWN, CT  - The Stray Kats Theatre Company, a not-for-profit professional theatre company located at Edmond Town Hall’s Alexandria Room, 45 Main Street, Newtown CT, will offer a very special summer program for kids ages 10-14.

“Stray Kittens is for those kids who don’t necessarily want to be in the ‘big musical’, or those who didn’t make it into that production, or simply couldn’t afford the costs of paying to play in a production with a huge price tag, or for those who simply want to learn more about acting”, said Kate Katcher, Artistic Director of the Stray Kats Theatre Company.

Through theatre games, vocal and physical warm-ups, participants will apply new-found skills to rehearsals for non-musical properties. Under consideration are Neil Simon’s “Fools” and James Thurber’s “A Thurber Carnival”. “Both are hilarious plays with lots of opportunities for kids to shine,” Katcher continues. “We don’t believe in stars; we believe in inclusion. Kids are inherently talented. They just need a chance to express themselves.”
