Rescheduled Labor Day Parade

Normally held on Labor Day, Newtown's annual parade is on for Sunday, Oct. 9 starting at 2 p.m.

Rescheduled due to damage from Tropical Storm Irene, the parade will feature a horse drawn stage coach sponsored by Wells Fargo, three giant U.S. flags, which measure 45-by-90 feet each, and World War II bomber planes, according to Beth Caldwell, who heads the committee organizing the parade.

The Rev. Bob Weiss of St. Rose of Lima Church will guest emcee at the flagpole, she said.
