Photograph Dedication Ceremony, and Photography Show Celebrating The 2nd Co. Governor's Horse Guard

The 2nd Co. Governor's Horse Guard (2GHG) will present to the Newtown Municipal Center-Town Hall, a panoramic photograph of 2GHG on canvas, and an additional photograph of 2GHG riding to the State Capital Building in Hartford created by Photographer, Marleen Cafarelli of Photo Art Works in Newtown. These two photographs of the 2GHG will be permanently on display at Newtown Municipal Center. Following this ceremony there will be a week long display of Marleen Cafarelli's Photography Show featuring The 2nd Co. Governor's Horse Guard, and their events.

The 2GHG is an all-volunteer state militia unit, originally formed to attend and escort the Governor. As an active Cavalry Unit, 2GHG serves the Governor and the State of Connecticut at the direction of the Connecticut Army National Guard. One of the oldest cavalry units in continuous service in the United States, 2GHG was chartered in 1808 and has had a history throughout the years of dedicated service to the citizenry of the State of Connecticut in times of peace and war, and to the preservation of the Cavalry in Connecticut. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this wonderful opportunity to meet the men and women volunteers who give over 300 hours of their time each year.

Marleen Cafarelli, an Honorary Member of the Horse Guard, for the past year she has documented and photographed their events, including Camp Rell, the Army National Guard facility in Niantic, CT where they hold yearly training, and the Connecticut Governor's Inaugural Ball in Hartford among others. To view all of Marleen's 2GHG images her website is www.PhotoArtWorks.info, and will found under "Our Town"

The Honor Guard Dedication Ceremony and Photography Show Opening will be held April 3, at Newtown Municipal Center-Town Hall located in Fairfield Hills Campus in Newtown, 1:30-3:30.
The Photography Show will be on display April 3-April10.
