Open House and Family Games Day

      The Newtown Historical Society will participate in the Newtown Youth and Family Services Annual Holiday Festival by hosting an open house at its headquarters, The Matthew Curtiss House. 

      The public is invited to visit and tour the building which will be decorated for the season. Our junior and senior docents will be available to answer questions about the house and its history and will provide guided tours by request. 

During the Open House there will be a "Family Games Day" held.  What did our ancestors do after all the chores were done?  Come learn the history behind some of our classic games and join us for a lively game of Checkers, Nine Men Morris, or Cards.  If you prefer, you can work on your skills in Jacks, Pick-Up-Sticks, or Cat's Cradle; or engage in a truly Newtown game of Scrabble.
