My Place Restaurant and Bar

FREE!!!

"The spirit of jazz is the spirit of openness." - Herbie Hancock

The Boplicity Jazz Band is thrilled to announce it will be performing at My Place Restaurant and Bar in Newtown, CT on Saturday March 3rd at 9pm.

After a triumphant tour of Southbury, and due to popular demand, Boplicity is returning to its hometown of Newtown Connecticut for an evening of great jazz music. And, as a special thank you to all our friends and fans, the show will be free!

The management of My Place Restaurant and Bar says they’re delighted to have Boplicity back for this return engagement but asks that customers please refrain from dancing on the tables again. “We love to see everyone having fun, and absolutely want to see people dancing, but just to be safe, please do not dance on top of the tables…”

Come early and come often.  We’re expecting an overflow crowd so if the parking at My Place/Big Y is full – please park across the street and come on over.  We WILL fit everyone in, one way or the other!

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!

Boplicity is one of the premier jazz groups in the area, playing everything from be-bop to fusion, from swing to latin, from cool jazz to hot blues.

Boplicity’s line up of musicians is made up of: Gregg Baimel (tenor saxophone, clarinet), Paul Fadus (trumpet), Warren McGuire (guitar), Michael Paes (bass) Bob Paquette (drums), Robert Rabinowitz (flute, alto saxophone).

Boplicity’s repertoire is quite extensive including
pieces by Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Herbie Hancock, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Rodgers & Hart, Keith
Jarrett, Wayne Shorter, Benny Goodman, Thelonius Monk, Antonio Carlos Jobim,  Dave Brubeck and others.  Boplicity plays songs such as Take The A

"As long as there are musicians who have a passion
for spontaneity, for creating something that's never been before, the art form of jazz will flourish." - Charlie Haden

I remember years ago that not all of the information about the Kennedy death and assassination wouldRead More not be unsealed until 2017, so why not be able to seal the records of these deaths for the same amount of time?

To further support my support of Aurelia, the letter above states it was the New York Post thatRead More wanted the details. Good for you town clerk! I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. What clowns.- http://ctcouncilfoi.org/

Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires. This is much ado about nothing. http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Newtown-officials-withhold-death-certificates-4526713.php
