Wounded Veterans Get Special Tribute in Newtown

The organization, Leaps of Faith Disabled Skiers, honors disabled veterans with a patriotic display and a day of fun on Lake Zoar.

A heavy fog hung over the water's still surface as a wave of boats slowly cruised up Lake Zoar on Saturday morning.

The boats were part of a special tribute that Sandy Hook-based Leaps of Faith Disabled Skiers had organized for veterans. Dubbed "Warriors on the Water," the parade of boats, each sporting patriotic colors, was a symbolic show of support to the veterans, who spent the day at Joel Zeisler's lakefront house.

"We had a great and full day of water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, fishing, and driving golf balls off the dock. The day was topped off by a vintage Piper Sea Plane that took all the warriors up for an individual flight with an open door cockpit," the organization writes on its Facebook page.
