Volunteers Hard At Work To Make Reunion Unforgettable

The lights were going up and the stage was being set Friday afternoon at Fairfield Hills. It's less than 24 hours before doors open for the Great Newtown Reunion, and a dedicated group of volunteers are making it all happen.

"People have been showing up all day," says Linda Mortensen, who is helping coordinate volunteers. "It's wonderful -- there are more coming early tomorrow morning, too!"

Mortensen says about 200 volunteers have chipped in to put the reunion together, and Healing Newtown has donated lighting and sound equipment.

"Many of the volunteers are also here to attend the reunion," she says. "Each class is doing their own tables. Each will have a different set of decorations, and we'll have a series of contests for the best decoration."

Doors open 10 a.m. Saturday morning for the Great Newtown Reunion.
