Some Roads Will Be Closed for Labor Day Parade

The closures and parking restrictions are necessary to make way for Newtown's 51st annual parade. Here's a list of which roads will be closed and when.


On Monday, Sept. 3, the Town of Newtown will be hosting its 51st annual Labor Day Parade, beginning at noon.

The parade will necessitate the closure of all roads leading to the center of town, including:

  • Route 25/Mt. Pleasant Road South at Reservoir Road
  • Main Street access from Academy Lane, Currituck Road, Hanover, School House Hill, and West Street
  • Church Hill Road westbound at The Boulevard
  • Route 302 at Elm Drive
  • Route 25 north at Elizabeth Street (detour for Route 25 north will be Wasserman Way)
  • Queen Street north at Elizabeth Street

The following roads will have “No Parking” signs erected on them and will be considered tow away zones:

  • The Boulevard (from Church Hill Road to School House Hill Road)
  • School House Hill Road (from the Boulevard to Main Street)
  • Hanover Road (from Main Street to Hall Lane)
  • Elm Drive (from Route 302 to Hawley Road)
  • Meadow Road & Elizabeth Street (one side only)

The roads will be closed from approximately 11:45 a.m. to approximately 2:15 p.m.
