Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue T-Shirt Sales Support Fund

The green T-shirts are available for purchase online through a Danbury-based company.

The Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department normally sports blue shirts. But the department worked with a Danbury-based company to create green T-shirts specially designed to honor the 26 victims of the school shooting, in an effort to raise money for the Sandy Hook School Fund, managed through the United Way and Newtown Savings Bank.

All proceeds from the sale of the shirts — they're $15 each — will be donated to the fund, firefighters confirmed on Monday afternoon while at the firehouse, which is located at the access road to Sandy Hook Elementary School and which served as a shelter for students on the morning of Dec. 14.

To order shirts, visit Rankin Sporting Goods' website. In a message on that page, the company writes:

"We at Rankin Sports would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy. Please help support the Sandy Hook Fire and Rescue Department. All proceeds will go to the SHS fund."

God Bless first responders, you are in our hearts and we love you and thank you for your ressponse when it was so very needed in Newtown . What would we do without you???? Who where there when you were needed so very badly. With all you are going through now remember that you are loved and the pain feel so deeply is shared with many more. Our father was as volunteeer with company # 6 in Milford Ct who was onsite to some really bad times in Milford and also saved a young boy from a fire and although he left us way too young I know he was there watching over you. We may never meet but your life and wellbeing is in our hearts . We think about you and pray for you. Hold your family close and remember so many good people love you. Thank you from the bottom of of out hearts .
