Photos: VFW Puts New Flags on Graves

From resident Donna Randle:

"This morning, about 2 dozen members of the VFW, Ladies and Men's Auxiliary divided into teams and visited all the cemeteries in Newtown. We took down all old faded US flags and put new ones in their place on the graves of every known veteran. I am attaching some photos for you to see.

This Sunday, May 26th, the Newtown VFW will be selling poppies in front ofBagel Delight, near Chase Bank, on Churchill Road from 8:30am onward... Please stop by after church or when you go out for your paper and bagels and buy some poppies.

On Monday, May 27, Memorial Day, a Ceremony of Remembrance will take place at 11am at the Newtown VFW Post 308. Past Post Commander Donald Monckton will be the Master of Ceremonies. The guest speaker is First Selectman Patricia Llodra. The Newtown VFW is located at 18 Tinkerfield Road, corner of Wasserman Way and South Main Street, across the street from Walgreens. All are welcome to attend."
