One Newtown Girl's Act of Kindness Brings Smiles to Strangers

Head O' Meadow student Lucia St. Lorenzo believes in random acts of kindness. We've previously told you about her gift to Newtown cops — a Thanksgiving dinner catered by the Inn at Newtown.

On Saturday, Lucia performed another random act of kindness for the holidays — she took a backpack full of green-and-white bears to the parking lot of Big Y / Dunkin Donuts on Queen Street, handing them out to strangers, passersby and anyone she saw. She was accompanied by her parents, to whom she credits her spirit — her father is the founder of Boot Camp Farms, a sustainable agriculture nonprofit.

Lucia got a lot of love on Newtown Patch's Facebook page for her actions:

  • "Love that girl! Lucia, you rock!! xoxo"
  • "So sweet and Amazing Little Girl her Family Must be So Proud Of Her for what she is doing I am and Thankful to see such Kinds in a young Girl"
  • "She's a lovely child. she is in the same class as I am this year at HOM school"
  • "Spreading the love! This is awesome!"
