Kids Love Newtown's Book Sale, Too

Dropping into Newtown's Booth Library Book Sale, I ran into Monroe mother Lani Siciliano and her three children, browsing through books in the children's section.

Lani says the family tries to make it to a lot of sales across the state, but makes it a point never to miss Newtown's sale.

"We've been coming here for ten years, since we moved to Monroe," she says.

Ten-year-old Kyra Siciliano is in fifth grade, and one of her favorite things about the summer is being able to browse books and find treasures to add to her summer reading list. She says she prefers summer reading to the books she reads in class.

"I like being able to pick what I read," she says.

Kyra's favorites? Mystery novels.

"I like fantasy books sometimes, but really I like things that are more realistic," she says.

The book sale brings patrons not just from Monroe -- the town's library doesn't have its own book sale -- but from across the state. It continues Tuesday (with a $5 per bag special) and Wednesday (when all books are half-price.)
