In Honor of Chase Kowalski: Red, White and Blue

Chase Kowalski loved flags. So it's no surprise a newly-issued tribute to the victim of the Dec. 14 shooting -- courtesy of the Chase Kowalski Memorial Fund and local bead shop Bead of Roses -- features a striking red, white and blue design. There's a touch more blue in the design than other colors -- Chase's favorite color was blue.

Kowalski's mother and Bead of Roses owner Lisa Rose worked together on what was most important, most like Chase and how they could really represent Chase's memory in the bracelet, according to Rose.

The bracelet is one of the latest in a series of Sandy Hook bracelets the shop has released, each made with the cooperation of victim's families, with proceeds going to memorial funds for victims of the shooting. In each case, Rose says, parents of victims have come to her to ask about a design.

"The parents loved the rubber duck bracelet so much, they're now coming to us to say, 'Can you make my daughter or son a bracelet?'" said Rose.

The bracelet is the second for Chase Kowalski in the rubber duck series, after Chasing Inspiration. On Wednesday, Bead of Roses released a new bracelet in memory of Olivia Engel. (See photo above.)

"Eventually, we look forward to having a rubber duck bracelet that represents each child," she said. "But only if the parents come to us and ask us."
