Have You Got Your Dog Licensed Yet?

June is dog licensing month in Newtown.

June is drawing to a close and so time is running out to get your pooch registered. All Newton dogs six months or older must be licensed annually during June.

The fees are $8.00 for a neutered male or spayed female and $19.00 for unaltered dogs.

The State of Connecticut requires that all dogs must have Rabies vaccinations and so when licensing a dog owners must present a current Rabies vaccination certificate, not the tag. If licensing a dog for the first time, it is necessary to present the spaying or neutering certificate to obtain the lower license fee.

The new 2014 licenses are available at the Town Clerk’s office Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Licenses may be ordered by mail by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check or money order for the proper amount and the following information: Rabies certificate, spay or neuter certificate, owner’s name, phone number, address, dog’s name, breed, age of dog, color markings and sex of dog.

Mail to: Town Clerk’s Office, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT 06470.

If you have any questions or require further information please visit the website or call the

Town Clerk’s office on 203-270-4210.
