Family activities for the week of March 2 - 8

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. We want to hear from you!

1. Pasta Dinner and Coffee House
Where/When: , Sandy Hook, March 5, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; music starts at 7:45 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy a family-friendly meal with music from Newtown's afterward.

Pricing: Meal is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, $3.50 for kids; music is $4 with dinner, $5 without.

2.
Where/When: , every Saturday in March, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Get the kids out of the house to create some crafts any time on Saturday.
Pricing: Free

3.
Where/When: , Southbury, March 5, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Community Chapel sponsors a night where kids can participate in a talent show, play games or make crafts. Refreshments provided.
Pricing: Free

4. Sweet Syrup
Where/When: New Pond Farm, Redding, March 3, 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Why Go: Take your toddler (ages 4 - 5) to taste fresh sap and see how maple syrup is made.
Pricing: $8 per child

Where/When: , Sandy Hook, March 8, 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Pancakes, corned beef, applesauce and sausage
Pricing: Donation of $8 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 3 - 10, kids younger than 3 eat free.

I goggled the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information and they are indeed nothing more than a non-profit group. They are not a government agency. And an inept one - their own website is a mess. Town Clerk Aurelia is already causing the town to needlessly spend money defending her derelictionRead More of duty: "An attorney representing the town, with the law firm Cohen and Wolf, issued an opinion in response to the, (New York), Post's request stating that the public is only allowed to view death and marriage certificates that are "at least one hundred years old." Cost aside she is pushing for a state law that would restrict access to a minors birth certificate for 6 months, she originally wanted them sealed for 10 years. The only thing the proposed law is going to accomplish is the healing that has been accomplished is going to be undone when the seal expires.
