Where/When: Behind , 11am, Sat
Why Go: This event, being held for the second year, features a contest to turn a pumpkin into a racer; pumpkin decoration and apple and pumpkin pie tasting contests; and other activities.
Pricing: Free ($5 to enter an event except baking contest)

2. - Newtown
Where/When: 14 Main St., 12-6pm, Sat, Sun
Why Go: Drop off a carved pumpkin and $4 donation to be part of a display of pumpkins stacked high on Main Street on Halloween. All proceeds to go to help Zoe McMorran with brain cancer treatment and the American Cancer Society.

3.  - Newtown
Where/When: 274 S. Main St. 2pm, Sat
Why Go: Business owners at Plaza South are banding together for this event. Enter your already carved pumpkin into their contest and come for the festivities.
Pricing: $5 to register

4. - Dodgingtown

Why Go: Dress in your favorite non-scary costume and bring a flashlight for the school's annual Halloween Lantern Walk, which features skits along the way.

Why Go: Elaine Pagliaro, of the Henry Lee institute of Forensic Science, will discuss cases involving forensic science. This lecture is part of the Get Clued In series for writers.

Why Go: Parks and recreation department will hold this party, which is limited to 100 participants. Prizes will be given for best costume.
Pricing: $7

7.  - Newtown – Postponed to Nov. 4
Where/When: Mile Hill Road South by Glander Field, 7pm, Sat
Why Go: Parks and recreation is sponsoring this ghoulish hayride around the trail at Fairfield Hills. Recommended for kids 10-12 with parental discretion. Raindate is Oct. 30

8. - Newtown

Why Go: Each den has made a scarecrow that is displayed at the library and various locations around town. Find all of them and redeem them for discounts.

Why Go: Entertainer, composer and comic impressionist will perform at Edmond Town Hall.
Pricing: $20

10. Warrior (PG-13) - Newtown
Where/When: , 7pm, Tues-Weds
Why Go: A mixed martial arts sports drama staring Nick Nolte as an alcoholic and abusive father trying to reconnect with his adult sons.

11. Crazy Stupid Love (PG-13) - Newtown
Where/When: , 7 p.m., Thu-Sun; 9:10pm, Fri, Sat; 4pm, Sat, Sun; 1pm, Sun
Why Go: Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei and Kevin Bacon headline this romantic comedy.
