Dickinson Park's FunSpace II Playground Opens Saturday

After being closed since October, Dickinson's FunSpace II will open this Saturday, July 26 with a musical celebration.

Newtown Parks and Recreation Department invites residents to a grand opening celebration for the new Dickinson Playground FunSpace II. The event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 at Dickinson Park, 50 Elm Drive.

A musical performance in the bandshell by Boston-based Ben Rudnick & Friends will amp up the fun at this fun-filled community celebration. The band will play at 11:30 a.m. Refreshments are being provided by Newtown Deli & Catering.

The old playground has been closed since October 7 and was reconstructed thanks to private donations and town Capital Improvement Plan funds. The new FunSpace II includes climbing stones, built-in musical instruments, a zip line, wooden play areas and a water space with sand. The new playground is handicap accessible.
