CT United Ride Passes Through Newtown Sunday

An expected thousands of riders are due to pass through Newtown Sunday afternoon as part of the CT United Motorcycle Ride, which bills itself as Connecticut's largest annual 9/11 tribute.

The ride begins in Norwalk and passes through 11 towns in the area, ending in Bridgeport's Seaside Park. It will enter Newtown from Bethel via Route 203, heading east to the intersection with Route 25 and turning south to head into Monroe. Drivers should expect delays as the ride passes through Newtown.

The ride is sponsored by Connecticut firefighters, who traditionally bring out their trucks and display American flags as it passes by. This year is the ninth annual ride; last year, about 2,300 riders ended the day in Bridgeport.
