CT Loves to Read Day Comes to Library

A council of the Connecticut Reading Association held an event and donated $300 to the C.H. Library.

On Saturday, October 15, the C.H. Booth Library hosted Connecticut Loves to Read Day, sponsored by the Northwest Reading Council.

Intended to promote family literacy, the event offered several activities to parents and children. Newtown resident Curtis Urbina read to a group of enthralled listeners, members of the Young Adult Book Group performed The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything, Brookfield High School students shared a robot and a story entitled Meet Gizmo, and the Pumpernickel Puppets provided the grand finale, a performance of Sir George and the Dragon.

The families who attended enjoyed great stories, learned about robotics and were entertained by one of the best puppet companies in the area. Children were able to interact with a variety of puppets after the show, including Twyla Tweet, a 5-foot tall bird was especially popular and photogenic.
