Counseling services for the public have been extended at Reed Intermediate School.
Professional counselors and psychiatrists are available, and all services are free. Therapy dogs are also available, as are children’s crafts.
Hours are this weekend, Jan. 5 and 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Jan. 7 - 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In an effort to help meet the needs of the community, Newtown Youth & Family Services, Inc., will be open for emergency counseling for families, community members or staff involved in the
Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
The clinic had been open, but announced Friday afternoon that it had extended its services until further notice.
Newtown Youth and Family Services is located at 15 Berkshire Road in Sandy Hook. The hours are as follows:
- Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome.
