Traffic is backed up on Interstate 84 east from Newtown to Danbury Monday afternoon due to construction in Newtown.
It's bumper to bumper travel for over ten miles from exit 8 to exit 13 with heavy delays and traffic at a near standstill.
Road crews have closed the left lane of the highway as they work on the Newtown side of the bridge spanning Lake Zoar.
According to the CT Department of Transportation website, construction is expected to continue until 3:30 p.m.
