Connecticut's Dr. Mel Remembered as Prolific
Mel Goldstein, one of the best locally known names in weather, is remembered for his lasting influence on the region. He died today.
The state has lost one of the best-known weather voices today.
Mel Goldstein died today following a battle with multiple myeloma. He was 66.
Frequently consulted in regards to the weather, including in 2006 when he reportedly was responsible for the rescheduling of the Ram Pasture's tree lighting in Newtown, Goldstein simply was known as "Dr. Mel."

Having battled cancer for years, he retired last year from WTNH. The television station has created a web page to remember one of its most beloved meteorologists.
Over the years, many stories and columns also have been written about Goldstein, who was a professor at Western Connecticut State University prior to starting at WTNH in 1986.
