Comedy Night at Panino's to Benefit Sandy Hook

The Avielle Foundation, named after one of the young children who lost her life in the Sandy Hook School shooting, will benefit from Friday's fundraiser in Monroe.

Howie Mason, Rick Roberts and Tony Liberati aim to have patrons of Panino's Pizza & Pasta rolling in laughter during Panino's Comedy Show this Friday. The event will benefit The Avielle Foundation, named in honor of Avielle Richman, 6, who was among the 20 children killed in the Sandy Hook School shooting.

Avielle's parents, Jennifer Hensel and Jeremy Richman, started the foundation to study behavioral and biochemical mental health.

Gary Seri, owner of Panino's, 179 Main Street, in Monroe -- and former owner of Stone River Grille in Sandy Hook -- said his restaurant had previously held a fundraiser in honor of Charlotte Bacon, 6, who also lost her life in the Sandy Hook tragedy. His restaurant plans on hosting a series of events to directly benefit Sandy Hook.

The comedy night will be Friday at 9:30 p.m. at Panino's. Admission is $40 per person and includes late night appetizers and dessert. Seating is limited, call Panino's at 203-452-5557 or Seri at 203-994-9135 for reservations.

"Panino's is BYOB, so please feel free to bring your own wine, beer, martinis and pre-mixed margarita's," Seri said. "We're looking forward to a fun night."

The following information about the comedians was taken from a press release about the event:

Howie Mason

Mason has brought his clever brand of humor to clubs and casinos all over the Northeast. His distinctive views on everyday topics such as marriage, parenthood and childhood have made him a crowd favorite all over New England.

Rick Roberts

Roberts is a lawyer by day and comedian by night. His unique and jaded perspective on the frustrations of middle-aged life and modern technology are central themes of his comedy.

Tony Liberati

Liberati is the guy you grew up with who had the same toys as you, watched the same shows, and thought the same thoughts. He can make anything funny without trying; just by reminding you what it was like to be there. He is funny, sharp, and with his dynamic stage presence, he's always entertaining.
