Census Report: Fairfield County Populations Are Booming

Newtown's population grew by 1.9 percent from 2010 to 2013, according to the Census.

New data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows Fairfield and Hartford Counties have outpaced the state's other counties in population growth from 2010 to 2013. Fairfield County saw its population increase by 6,171 residents, about five times as fast as Hartford County's 1,095 resident increase, newstimes.com reported this week.

The town of Greenwich takes the lead for the fastest growing town in Fairfield County, with a 1.8 percent population increase from 2010 to 2013. Its population has grown by 192 residents since 2012. 

Newtown's population, meanwhile, has grew to 28,113, a 1.9 percent increase from 2010 to 2013.
