Autumn Makes Newtown's Trails Extra-Beautiful

I'm writing you from a small thatched shelter off Al's Trail in Sandy Hook (see the photo above) with the roar of the Pootatuck River in the background.

Although I'm less than half a mile from Sandy Hook center, you wouldn't know it -- Al's Trail is calm, quiet and isolated, the perfect spot for quiet reflection or some colorful photography.

Newtown's footpaths, from Fairfield Hills to Lillinonah Trail in Paugussett State Forest, are extra-beautiful in the autumn, allowing plenty of opportunities for photos of the fall foliage and exploration of the wilds that lie within Newtown. To learn more about them, visit the Newtown Forest Association's website. Al's Trail also has its own website.

And if you'd like to take a fall foliage journey of your own, we'd be glad to share your pics! Click here to submit your autumn photos to our open blog, and we'll feature them on the site.
