Are You Making the Sandy Hook Promise?

The organization is hoping to unify the country to make America safer in the wake of the Newtown school shooting. Are you making the promise?

The Sandy Hook Promise has put its message out to the world for all to see. Like the organization's name, their vision is simple yet profound.

They are hoping that out of the Newtown tragedy comes a moment of transformation, of positive change — for individuals, families, communities and the nation.

We've posted the organization's promise statement as a PDF attached to this article.

Have a read and let everyone know if you're on board by saying in the comments below, "I'm making the Sandy Hook Promise."

That tea party guy sounds a whole lot smarter than you,at least he makes sense and all you can do is correct his grammar? Who's the moron here? I would like to here more of we he's got to say.

i make the Sandy Hook Promise. We will remember those beautiful children, their brave teachers and administrators - and their parents - not just with prayers, but with demands that our politicians stand up to the gun lobby and those who support them. Please remember that Smith & Wesson, Ruger and other gun makers earn billions selling death toys - support Promise and Gabby Giffords with MONEY. We defeated the Tea Party in the 2012 election - we can beat them on this life-or-death issue if we fund the ones standing up for us.

I am making the Sandy Hook Promise. Moreover, I promise to keep the lost children, their self-sacrificing teachers and administrators, and their poor parents in my mind forever. I will vote for no public official who hides behind the Second Amendment to defend the licensing of semi-automatic weapons, high-capacity magazines and universal background checks. My daughter is with Teach for America, and as a first grade schoolteacher, if she had been at Sandy Hook that day, she would have laid down her life for her class. As far as I am concerned, the politicians without the courage to stand up to the gun lobby to defend her from that risk don't merit our vote. Because, like the bumper sticker on my car, "I am Newtown"
