We've featured Newtown-based Green Fur Kidz Rescue here on Patch before, and in this week's "Adopt Us" feature, we're trying to find a home for the lovely boxer mix you see before you.
Her name is Sable, she's just over a year old, and she's spayed, about to be microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Here's a little about her from her current foster mom, courtesy of Green Fur Kidz:
"Sable has so much love to give, she makes sure to spread it around. Despite being approximately 40 lbs, Sable is certain she is a lap dog. She will go from person to person looking to cuddle, get a good tummy rub and lavish her humans with kisses. Sable is housebroken and very good with the two boys in her foster home, ages 10 & 9. She does not chew on furniture or her own bedding. Sable is calm and has yet to bark at anything in her foster home, including the doorbell. The wonderful aroma of your home cooked meal will make Sable so excited, you may wish she was the one you were cooking for!
Sable is a home body. She prefers to stay near the house. She will walk around the yard on a leash but is leery of taking a walk on the road. Sable is learning how to navigate going down stairs and working on commands such as, '€œsit'€ and '€œoff€'. She is eager to please and is able to be redirected. Sable likes to be introduced to things slowly. New situations take her a little while to get used to. She will need a forever home family that is patient, loving, yet firm while training.
Sable has been treated for heartworm and needs to rest for a few more weeks. As a result, she has not been around other dogs because she can't jump and run. There is a small dog in her foster home. The two have not been out of their crates at the same time, but have made small strides in smelling each other through their crates."
