Sredzinski Running for Seat Being Vacated by Hovey

On Friday, February 21, 2014, J.P. Sredzinski filed paperwork with the State Elections Enforcement Commission and the Monroe Town Clerk’s office to make official his run for the 112th State Representative seat.  On Wednesday, current State Representative from the 112th, DebraLee Hovey, announced she will retire at the end of the year.

“DebraLee has represented Monroe and Newtown with distinction for the past 12 years”, Mr. Sredzinski stated, “She leaves behind a legacy of hard work and tireless advocacy”.

J.P. Sredzinski, an 11 year resident of Monroe, is the current Chairman of the Monroe Town Council.  He also serves as Chairman of the Monroe Police Department Building Renovations Committee.  A strong background in emergency services, Mr. Sredzinski works for the Town of Stratford as the Supervisor for the 9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatch Center and has sat as an appointed member of the Connecticut Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board for the past 6 years.  Previously, Mr. Sredzinski has served on the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency as well as Monroe’s Zoning Board of Appeals.  His work in the community includes serving on the UConn MPA Alumni Council and formerly coaching for Monroe Little League.

“As State Representative I want to work towards restoring Connecticut as one of the leading states in the nation, reversing the downward trend that we have seen over the years.  I will work toward reducing burdens on our residents and businesses, improving our infrastructure and helping to retain and recruit jobs in Connecticut.  More jobs mean stability and prosperity for all of our citizens.”

Mr. Sredzinski has already assembled a solid campaign team and is working to put together the rest of his staff moving forward.  He looks forward to reaching out to the citizens of Monroe and Newtown and listening to them so he can represent their message in Hartford.
