Newtown Resident Named CBA Vice President

Attorney Monte E. Frank was installed as Vice President of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) at the CBA Annual Luncheon during the Connecticut Legal Conference on June 16 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

Attorney Frank is a principal in Cohen and Wolf's Litigation and Municipal Groups working in the firm's Danbury and Bridgeport offices. He represents business and municipal clients in the state and federal courts in Connecticut on a wide range of matters. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut; the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. He has been admitted pro hac in the Federal Court in other states. Attorney Frank regularly represents clients in mediation and arbitration in Connecticut and other states. He has served as an attorney trial referee, factfinder and arbitrator for the Judicial District of Danbury since 2000.

A former president of the Danbury Bar Association, Attorney Frank was recognized with the association’s annual Pro Bono Award for his pro bono representation of several families who were deeply affected by the tragedy in Newtown and his representation of an individual in connection with the 9/11 Victims' Compensation Fund. He is frequently in the press for his work on violence prevention.

Attorney Frank’s activities in the Connecticut Bar Association include serving as a member of the Board of Governors and House of Delegates as well as the Litigation Section. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Council and serves on its Second Circuit Courts Committee.

The Connecticut Bar Association is governed by a Board of Governors and House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is the primary decision-making and policy-making body of the CBA. The Board of Governors is the administrative board of the CBA, which includes responsibility for budgetary and financial matters other than setting annual dues. There are also seven offices, held by members of the Association for a one-year term, which include president, immediate past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and assistant secretary-treasurer.

As Vice President of the Connecticut Bar Association, Frank presides over the meetings of the House of Delegates and the Board of Governors in the absence of the president and the president-elect and will serve as the chair of the Legislative Policy and Review Committee.
