Lions Pumpkin Race is coming

The Newtown Lions Club will be hosting its 4th Annual Great Pumpkin Race on October 19 from 10:00 to 2:00 in the parking lot behind Edmond Town Hall.  This will be a fun day for the whole family.

The featured event is the race of decorated pumpkins on wheels.  There will be separate heats for each age group, including one for 18+.  Racers may build their own racing pumpkin or may purchase one from the Lions.  The only requirement is that the axles for the wheels must penetrate the pumpkin.  HINT:  Bigger pumpkins on larger wheels travel faster than small pumpkins.

There will also be decorating contests for the best design, scariest, and funniest pumpkins.  There will be a treasure hunt in a haystack, bobbing for apples, pumpkin bowling and an assortment of other autumn themed games and activities.  There will be a food booth manned by the Knights of Columbus as well as a number of booths sponsored by a variety of community organizations and local businesses.
