BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS TO HOST AN OPEN HOUSE

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut Foundation will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, November 6th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at 127 South Main Street in Newtown.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation and how to get involved. Guests are also invited to take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Pat Llodra, Newtown’s First Selectman. Drinks and appetizers will be available.

The location on route 25 opened in March as a drop off location for gently used clothing and household items. "The response at this location has been amazing, both in how welcoming Newtown has been and in the amount of donations we have collected since opening the location.  We hope to be a long-time member of the community," says Operations Manager, Ken Kuntz.

Established in 2009, The Big Brothers Big Sisters SWCT Foundation assists Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut by providing funding for its mentoring program by collecting gently used clothing and household items. The program reduces our environmental footprint by limiting what goes into our local landfills; to date we have kept over 11 million pounds of clothing, 5 million miscellaneous household items and 130,000 pieces of furniture out of local landfills.
