Betty Lou Osborne Memorial Scholarship Ball
The Newtown Scholarship Association (NSA) and the Newtown Memorial Fund (NMF), two
Newtown-based, non-profit, volunteer organizations, will co-host the Betty Lou Osborne Memorial Scholarship Ball on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Waterview in Monroe, CT. A fabulous evening is planned, and net proceeds from the event will help the NSA and the NMF advance our shared mission: to provide need-based college scholarships to young people from Newtown.

The skyrocketing cost of college - particularly during these difficult economic times - has put a higher education out of reach for many local families. Since its founding in 1937, the NSA has awarded close to $4 million in need-based college scholarships and as continuing aid to more than 1,500 students from Newtown. The aim of the NSA is to help close the gap between the cost of college and what a family can contribute.

The NMF was established in 2013 with a three-fold mission: restoring, remembering, and renewing.
In 2013, the NSA and the NMF joined forces to award four additional special scholarships totaling $70,000 to four students from Newtown. These additional scholarships will continue to be funded throughout each student's undergraduate career.
