Thank you to the late Frances Hair and Hazel Bouchard! Animal lovers and Newtown donors extraordinaire.
From the Bee: First Selectman Pat Llodra announced Monday that a bequest from two late residents, Frances Hair and Hazel Bourchard friends and animal lovers will enable the town to complete construction on a new animal control facility, as well as setting up an annual fund to underwrite operations.
"Mrs Llodra told the Board of Selectmen May 21 that attorneys for the estates of Frances Hair and Hazel Bouchard asked her for a punch list including everything the town would need to complete the construction and outfit the new animal control facility, to maintain its operations including costs for supplemental consultants like trainers and veterinarians, and to ready an adjacent dog park for opening."
This gift is a tremendous help to the town of Newtown. My wife and I walked by the new animal shelter last week while on a trail walk in FFH. This gift from Frances Hair and Hazel Bouchard not only is a tremendous enhancement to the town of Newtown but it also shows us all what some can do to assist Newtown in becoming even a better place to live. I wish more kind people would consider donating to the schools, sporting fields and more by donating land and funds to enhance the town for our seniors, residents and children of all ages.
This type of generosity is often seen in other towns and my hope is more will come to Newtown in the future.
Thank you Frances Hair and Hazel Bouchard!
