The Newtown High School Baseball Team improved to 13-5 and 9-3 in the SWC with an 8-0 win over Stratford on Monday. Newtown was led by senior captain Kyle Wilcox who threw 6 shutout innings allowing only 3 hits and striking out 8. Mike Koch came in and closed the game striking out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. Wilcox also led the Newtown offense with 2 hits and an RBI. Also contributing 2 hits were Mike Allwein and Justin DeVellis. Evan Noonan, David Lucia and Mike Davis each had doubles in the win, while Dean Demers added a single. Newtown is in action on Wednesday at New Milford and Thursday at Pomperaug to close out the 2012 regular season.
