Llodra: 'Stay Home - Stay Safe and Stay Informed'

Editor's Note: The following was received Monday, Jan. 31 from First Selectman Pat Llodra who requested that it be posted immediately

First Selectman Patricia Llodra met (Monday, Jan. 31) afternoon at the Emergency Operations Center with Emergency Response Director Bill Halstead and selected department heads to review plans and prepare for the next round of snow and possible icing conditions.

The Police, Fire, Public Works, Information-Technology, and Communications departments have been fully informed and are prepared for this next weather event.

Town officials will continue to monitor the weather forecasts and work with the Department of Emergency Management to ensure the safety of our residents.  In the event power is lost for an extended period of time emergency shelters will be opened.

Residents will be kept abreast of shelter openings or other pertinent information through the CodeRed Emergency Notification System.

Officials urge residents to keep themselves informed through the media of the weather and roadway conditions and if possible to not venture out until after the Highway Department personnel have had a chance to treat the roadways.

Stay home – stay safe and stay informed through your local media outlets.
