Davis' No Hitter Leads to NHS Baseball Win Over Bethel

The Newtown High School Baseball Team moved to 2-2 on the season with a 9-0 win over Bethel Friday in Newtown. Sophomore right hander Mike Davis led the Nighthawks on the mound with a complete game no hitter, striking out 9 and only allowing 6 Bethel base runners.

The Newtown offense was led by Evan Noonan who had 2 hits including an inside the park homerun, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Andy Kelley also added 2 hits, a run scored, stolen base and an RBI. David Lucia and Justin Devellis both had 2 hits on the day, Devellis adding a stolen base, RBI and 2 runs scored. Lucia had a double and 2 RBI’s.

Also adding hits for the Nighthawks were Seniors Kyle Wilcox and Chris Tenney, as well as Juniors Reid Schmidt with a 2 RBI double and J.P Blanco with a RBI single.

The Nighthawks play Ansonia in a non-conference game Saturday, with the first pitch slated for 3:00.
