Western, CT – Commemorating the 75th anniversary of Amelia Earhart’s disappearance, Charter, Discovery Channel and Discovery Education announce Summer of Flight, an online program designed to keep kids engaged throughout summer vacation via science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities related to aviation.
“This is a great tool for parents looking to keep their children’s minds active during the summer break,” said Greg Garabedian, Charter’s Vice President and General Manager. “This unique program contains all the online tools that excite kids and promotes a fun learning experience.”
This online destination is launching in coordination with Discovery Channel’s expedition to determine where the legendary pilot, Amelia Earhart, may have crash landed. With support from the U.S. State Department, the results of this monumental initiative will air in an exclusive programming event on Discovery Channel this fall.
Currently available through July 30 for Charter customers, the website will feature a variety of interactive, educational resources, including engaging videos, writing exercises and animations. Parents can help their kids learn about Amelia Earhart’s inspirational experiences, the planes she flew and the science behind aviation. In addition, Charter customers will collect points for each activity they complete. Points can be redeemed at an online store for prizes, such as LIFE DVDs, MythBusters Science Kits, t-shirts, posters and more.
