All Girls Invited to Camp Candlewood

Camp Candlewood has a variety of fun and challenging activities like canoeing, kayaking, and archery for all girls in grades K-12! The camp is located on 87 acres on the shore of Lake Candlewood in New Fairfield. New bus routes are available for day campers in Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, and Ridgefield.

Day campers at Candlewood enjoy extensive waterfront facilities, including two beaches, canoeing, sailing, and boating. The waterfront is staffed by American Red Cross lifeguards and water safety instructors. This year’s exciting programming from June 30-August 1 features a variety of sailing, canoeing, and water-themed weeks. The camp also offers older girl leadership programming and apprentice programs for girls who are ready for more leadership activities and would like to become future camp counselors. Breakfast bunch with drop off as early as 7:00 a.m. is also available.

Several studies, including one by the American Camp Association, suggest that a stay at summer camp typically benefits children by helping them become more confident and experience increased self-esteem; develop social skills; become more independent, showing leadership qualities; and become more adventurous in trying new things. Camp Candlewood is American Camp Association accredited and licensed by the State of Connecticut to ensure the well-being of all campers.
