Calling All Children to Participate in the Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Award

The Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Award

Please join our 'kindness initiative' in honor of our little friend, Charlotte!  We have created The First Annual Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Award with a mission of:  Encouraging acts of kindness in our children, while supporting the families of the Sandy Hook victims.

www.facebook.com/NewtownKindness.org

www.NewtownKindness.org

Our primary objective is to be a GOODWILL-raiser, secondarily a FUND-raiser.  The contest is simple: Children need to perform an act of kindness, then write in and tell us about it!  Annual entry deadline is: 2/21 for award announcement on 2/22 ~ Charlotte's birthday. We are receiving some great donated prizes for our winners.  Check our websites for all of the contest details.  Email us anytime at: NewtownKindness@yahoo.com.

PLEASE SHARE OUR PROGRAM WITH ALL, PARTICIPATE, AND BE KIND!

Thank you.

This is a brilliant idea and an absolutely beautiful tribute.

How does this work?
Aaron Carlson January 7, 2013 at 01:57 pm
Check out our websites for details! Essentially a child performs an act of kindness and writes in to tell us about it. It can even just be emailed in. Newtownkindness@yahoo.com
Thanks for sharing!

An act of kindness does not need an award. Publishing ALL the acts is a nice idea, but the reward is doing the act.
Aaron Carlson January 7, 2013 at 02:47 pm
Mary - we can't agree more that the reward is the act! Definitely. Our real goal here is just to encourage the mindset in our kids. That's all! We are just trying to make it a little fun for the kids. We have only been doing this a week and schools are participating and we are getting some really cool submissions. If you read these entries, the kids certainly are doing these acts from the bottom of their hearts.

Is this something that children outside of Newtown can participate in? We are in Oklahoma but have been following this town daily since that day. My kids really enjoy helping others and I am sure they would love to be a part of a bigger community of do-gooders.Great idea! Sending hugs from the middle of America.

What a wonderful tribute and legacy for your beloved Charlotte. Thank you for giving us all an opportunity to pay tribute to her kind and gentle ways and effecting positive change in our country and the world. Teaching all children how to make their corner of the world a better place, no matter where they live on the planet is the first step to creating a more caring, compassionate world. God bless you.

What a truly wonderful and uplifting story and initiative!
I hope everyone (adults especially) will read this and be inspired to seek opportunities to perform kind acts each day, whether or not they (or their children) enter the contest. Kindness should be its own reward, after all.

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
