I would pay 10.00 for a bumper sticker and as a matter of fact I purchased 3 of them. 100% of theRead More proceeds are going to the memorial benches in honor of the 26 vicitims. I would much rather give my money to an honest person who I know is doing the right thing and my money will not be caught up in ridiculous bureaucracy.

I actually was thinking of this early this morning...seven months ago today it was only an idea; aRead More thought of "hmmmmm, I wonder if...". Today we are eleven days away from closure of fundraising, what has been an interesting ride and learning lesson; totally done by word-of mouth. Our goal shall not be met, our mission not accomplished until all 26 benches are planted on Mother Earth. What a sight it shall be...stay tuned "ONWARD"

Thanks for posting that link Long Time Resident, it was helpful to me. I lived in the San FernandoRead More Valley for more than 20 years. The name of my 'neighborhood' was not the City Of Los Angeles, but I still paid LA City Taxes, was protected by the LAPD, the mayor I voted for was for the City of Los Angeles, the schools were LAUSD. The link you posted helped me see that although on a much smaller scale, the 'neighborhoods' that make up Newtown are similar to what I know. Some of the bickering on various posts on the Patch look so petty sometimes, I hate to see a tragedy result in things like that. Keep up the good work Sam!

Newtown, Connecticut, and its 60.4 square miles of area, is all the same town. Newtown, Botsford,Read More Hawleyville, and Sandy Hook all have different zip codes, true. However, they are all part of the town of Newtown. Having moved from Baldwin, New York in 1974, when Newtown had just 17,600 pop, I found this weird, too. having 36,000 people in less than 5 square miles at the time [ today Baldwin, NY has only 22,000], we considered Baldwin, Long Island, NY as one town. However, it was, and is, part of the Town of Hempstead, NY. A town which, back in 1972, had more than 890,000 people living in its 46-47 villages including Freeport, Lynbrook, and Hempstead[ the last of which was, and is even more today, a suburban ghetto like LA's Compton]. " Downstate" New York Towns are different. This in the fact that, like Bedford which includes Mount Kisco, Bedford, and several more; and East Hampton which includes Northwest Landing/Van Scoy, Montauk Village and " town", Add to that, Amagansett, Sag Harbor, and E. Hampton Villages, Wainscott and several more " towns" within the town. Everybody considers those municipalities as INDIVIDUAL " TOWNS"; to some extent, but not as much as they would with Amityville, Babylon, and Brentwood- all within Babylon Town. Connecticut, for the most part, has no incorporated villages; 4-5 of its towns, including Newtown, have Boroughs [ aka: Village]. That and, unlike New York's Counties which either have County Police [ e.g. Nassau or Suffolk County Police] or a sheriff, undersheriff, and many deputies, Connecticut no longer has sheriffs. They had, but unlike Dutchess Co. in NYS, they strictly served court orders and transported prisoners.

Paul- I disagree. Language matters because it influences thoughts and then actions. There is truthRead More and truth matters and must be spoken. There are those who deny the holocaust and deny the truth about 9/11. Now there are those who deny Sandy Hook. If we deny the truth then we can't take corrective actions to prevent these events from repeating.
Richard Hooker January 12, 2013 at 04:53 pm
Bringing more attention to this, is what fuels them. Ignore them, and they disappear. People areRead More doing EXACTLY what this person wants...give them attention, and they will just do something else to top it.
Sam Mihailoff January 12, 2013 at 09:39 pm
Paul, 1 - - I have no delicate sensabilities... 2 - - rabid indignation? whatever that is supposedRead More to imply in your cryptic writing style 3 - -what people DO?...correct...the people = Florida Atlantic the DO = employ such extremists to invade the students' minds
