Heat Advisory Issued for Saturday, Cooler Then On

The National Weather Service is calling for one final day of the heat wave.

A day after record breaking heat in some areas, the National Weather Service is calling for a cooler but still hot Saturday.

A heat advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., July 23, with the hottest temperatures coming in the afternoon, the weather service said. Temperatures are expected to be in the 90s, although factoring in humidity, heat index values are estimated to be over 100-degrees, the weather service said.

Friday had record or near record heat in some areas with a high of 98-degrees reported in Newtown and at Danbury Airport. Connecticut Weather Inc. reported a high of 102-degrees in Danbury, which the outfit said was a new daily record. Bridgeport saw a high of 103 degrees, which tied the all-time high, the weather service said.

Once the sun sets on Saturday, however, temperatures will begin to drop and be only in the 80s on Sunday through Wednesday, according to the weather service. There also will be a slight chance of thunderstorms every day through Monday, the weater service said.
