Girls Lacrosse Bounces Back

After disappointing losses to lacrosse powerhouses in the state and region, the Nighthawks regain their composure to beat Bethel.

Members of the Newtown High School girls lacrosse team returned from their spring break determined to build off their 14-9 loss to state powerhouse New Canaan and several scrimmages on Long Island.

The Bethel Wildcats were the unlucky recipients of the Nighthawks' commitment to a fresh start, falling behind 13-6 in the first half and eventually succumbing 20-6 Tuesday afternoon at Treadwell Park.

Senior Captain Kaitlin Brophy led all scorers with four goals and two assists, while fellow Captain Meghan Carney and junior attacker Meredith Bridges each scored twice and added two assists.
